December 17, 2021
As we approach the end of the year, I am hearing a lot of people wishing 2021 away as a wasted year. But I reckon that is selling yourself and the people around you short. On reflection, I suggest you have probably achieved a lot this year.
Undoubtedly it feels like the last two years have all blurred into one and various lockdowns have provided us with a Groundhog Day experience. You might even be saying, ‘Hang on was that last year or this year?’ But I am sure that is not too dissimilar to previous years.
Over the last few years, I have got into the habit of collating my professional year by numbers. This includes sales figures, the number of keynotes and workshops, new clients and total clients. I even count the number of flights I have been on and nights away from my family.
Part of this process also looks at what I have achieved during the year. So, I want to give you a little snapshot of my achievements this year and really encourage you to do the same for yourself. You may be surprised by what you have accomplished in 2021.
We ran a total of 70 workshops and 15 keynotes this year. Surprisingly eight of them were in person.
We had the pleasure of working with 33 different clients and I was also a guest on a staggering 99 podcasts for the year.
We published one book (Magnetic Stories) which debuted at number two in Australia and was a finalist in a total of five categories across the International Business Book Awards and the Australian Business Book Awards.
We managed to have an in-person book launch back in March in between lockdowns where way too many cocktails were consumed.
Elise is a finalist for the Australian Admin Awards in the Head Capacity Creator category. The winners will be announced in January.
On a personal note, Steve and I managed a holiday in May to the Northern Territory where we walked the Larapinta Trek and spent a few spectacular days afterwards at Uluru.
We also managed to get our daughter Jess through her final year of school and Alex through another year of Uni… without too many tears along the way.
To finish, I have completed a record number of jigsaw puzzles due to way too many days in lockdown.
Now it is over to you. I really encourage you to look back on the year and recognise all that you have achieved. Do it for yourself, do it with your team and maybe most importantly do it with your family.
From our families to yours, we hope you have a safe and happy break over the Christmas period. It’s a wonderful to spend time with people you love …well at least tolerate😜.
Until next year,
Ral & Elise.
We will be closing the office from the 22nd of December until the 11th of January.
