I am a massive fan of ‘80s music. I don’t think any decade since has produced better music. Recently I was listening to the hit song ‘Underneath the Radar’ by Welsh band, Underworld.

There is one line in it that reminds me of Thought Leadership. To be an industry influencer and stand out in the market place, you must raise your profile. This could be both internally in your organisation or externally in your industry. Not everyone wants or needs to do this, but if you do, you really have to put yourself out there. You need to get on people’s radar.

In the words of Underworld:

When you live underneath the radar,
There’s no way that you’re ever gonna get far,
(So get hip!)

When I Googled the lyrics to make sure I was accurate, I realised they were saying ‘So get hip’ at the end of that line. It’s only taken me 30 years of listening!
