Help. It’s what Australians do – stories create an emotional connection

Blog

Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Have you seen the latest Westpac rescue helicopter? If not check it out below. It is such a great example of communicating through storytelling and acquiring an emotional connection with your audience. Another very cool thing is that their logo appears for only seconds during the add. It’s impressive that they weren’t tempted to consume the message by pushing their own brand too forcefully.

The Power of Storytelling

Storytelling is such a powerful way to create an emotional connection. What’s more, you can make use of this skill every day. You don’t need a slick corporate video with a killer backing soundtrack by David Bowie. You just need to show a bit of vulnerability and share a personal story. OK it’s a bit harder than that and there is some skill involved. If there wasn’t, everyone would be doing it and I wouldn’t have a job. My point is that storytelling is very powerful when done well.

Give it a crack, you could be a hero, even just for one day.
