A mate of mine, Abigail, has always ranked her friends according to three categories: A, B or C. With A being reserved for her closest friends and B and C not so much. While I usually laugh at her system, it helps Abigail set the expectations of the friendship and where she should dedicate her time.
On reflection, I think a strategic system works well when it comes to our professional relationships. With limited time, we can’t maintain hundreds of close relationships. However, our network is critical to the opportunities we get as well as our professional success.
My good friend and colleague, Janine Garner, asserts that, ‘Networking matters but your network matters more.’ I am delighted to be running a full day session with Janine where we will help you be strategic with your network and storytelling.
Although we won’t categorise your professional network into A, B or C groups, Janine will help you define the 12 key people in your network. These people act as your Pit Crew, Teachers, Promoters or Butt Kickers. They help you care more, know more, become more and do more.
I will also show you how to find and share stories that help you communicate your business messages with greater impact. This training will help you to communicate in a way that helps people understand and remember what you say.
The day will be full of insights and practical tips to help you achieve greater professional success. What’s more you will receive a copy of our latest books. Both were rated in the top 100 business books sold in Australia for 2017.
The workshop is appropriately called The Winning Formula – Strategic Networking and Strategic Storytelling for Success …and we are running a workshop in both Melbourne and Sydney.
