Last week I went to see the amazing Dawn French live in Melbourne. Her show was called Dawn French is a Huge Twat. As a massive fan of her work, especially The Vicar of Dibley, I was very much looking forward to the show.
And what a wonderful performance it was! A masterclass in storytelling, timing, delivery, suspense, humour, knowing what to include and what to leave out – it was simply brilliant!
“Such a natural,”
I heard people comment. Hmm, no, I don’t think so. This is clearly a craft she has worked on throughout her career.
I left my corporate role in finance almost 20 years ago to teach business people how to share stories more effectively. It was with great passion and clarity that I knew that storytelling was a skill that everyone could get better at if they were taught how to do it.
So that is what I decided to do. Teach people how to share stories more effectively. And they say teaching is the best way to learn. So, I feel I have definitely improved my own storytelling abilities over the last couple of decades.
And I can teach you in several ways.
Learn how to tell stories effectively and present in a more engaging way and avoid the risk of being a twat. 😜
