What is happening in Corporate Australia at the moment? A great deal of change.
In response to the rise of technology, evolving expectations of customers, increased automation and competition, companies are experiencing disruptive organisational change. Some of Australia’s largest companies, such as NAB, ANZ, Telstra and Australia Post, are all going through major restructures. This has significant impact on employees. They sit in a land of limbo, unsure of how secure their current job is. It is an unfortunate bi-product of organisational change for modern day corporates.
The flip side of course, is that change can bring new and exciting opportunities. The people that have taken control of their career will thrive and the ones that haven’t, at best survive.
My good friend and colleague, Janine Garner, will often say:
Your employer owns your job, but you own your career.
So here are five things that you can start to do to take control of your career …it is never too late to start but the sooner you do, the better.
To help you with points three and four, the above-mentioned Janine Garner and I have come together to run a very special one-off program. It is called The Winning Formula because it will show you how to strategically network and share stories for greater success. This is a valuable day for anyone who wants to take control of their career. Especially if you are feeling slightly insecure in your current role. We are running a day in both Melbourne and Sydney and it is bound to deliver you immediate results. Take a look at the video we recorded above which explains the session in more detail.
If you are also keen to develop your thinking and ideas so you increase your profile, influence and opportunities, then check out my 2 day Thought Leadership Intensive program brochure. There are 2 spots left for the August program on 29th and 30th and 8 spots left for the November program on 8th and 9th.
In this unprecedented time of disruption take care of yourself …maybe even put yourself first. Change can be exciting but it can also be overwhelming and exhausting. Take control, seek out support and don’t forget to support the others around you.
